Electrician Shows Up

After a long absence from the job site, the electrician/plumber showed up this week to finish the rough in. While he didn't exactly finish, he is supposed to be back this week to complete the job. Hopefully he doesn't wait as long to show up again as last time.

Siding Progresses

After only putting one piece of siding up the previous week, the builder finished siding three sides of the house this week and completed the cedar on the inside of the screen porch. The siding is exactly as envisioned and just what we were looking for.

Really! That's What You Got Done This Week

It has become apparent that our house is not our builder's priority. I don't know if he's working on other projects or what he spends his time on, but he's not spending much of it at our house. Another week has gone by and no electrician/plumber has shown up. The only accomplishment for the week is the siding that was put on one corner of the house. (Remember when that siding was delivered in October.) How long will take to side the house?????

Screen Porch Progress

Some work was also done on the screen porch. Its taking shape but is far from complete.

Happy Fireplace

The mantels on the fireplace were completed and the fireplaces tested this week. They look great! The metal flues just have to be installed outside and they will be good to go.

Missing Electrical

This week we were expecting to see some progress on the electrical and plumbing. Our builder has had a hard time getting the electrician/plumber up to the house to finish the rough-in that he started back in November. After talking with him earlier in the week, he had decided to just go ahead and finish it himself as his progress on anything else in the house depends on this getting completed. We were trying to get to the site as early as possible on Saturday expecting the builder to be working since he had emailed late Friday that he would be there by 8. We arrived at 9:30 and no builder. Walked inside and there was a note to us that he missed us and would we mind marking the spots for the interior and exterior wall and ceiling lights. (Just a little frustrating knowing we had a detailed lighting plan done.) We did as requested after expressing much doubt that our house was ever going to get finished.

City Update

In an effort to reduce maintenance at the city residence, over the past few weekends we have been busy eliminating the grass(or shall I say weeds) in the front yard. We tilled up the grass, laid down weed fabric, mapped out a dry river bed and mulched the entire yard. Its now a nice natural yard with no mowing or weeding to be done. Thus, more time for the mountains!!!!

Fireplace Completion

On our last visit, the fireplace had been completed with the last layer of block added and the concrete mantels poured. It is going to be an interesting contrast with the wide plank walls and stone floors. Is it Modern Rustic or Urban Country???
