This past weekend we took house update duty off and went to the Western North Carolina mountains on the Toe River Arts Studio Tour. We went to approximately 15 different studios and galleries and picked up a few things for the mountain house along the way. Its always great to get out and about and see the artists and where they live and work. This area of Western North Carolina - Spruce Pine, Bakersville, and Burnsville - has attracted a great many artists and artisans bringing life back to many towns that have been devastated by the textile mills closing. There's also Penland School in the area which is world renowned for it arts teachings and many students from across the United States and the world attend its classes and end up staying or coming back to live in the area. Check out a few of the finds we made.
